Message from the founder
The 2024 Hawaii Ukulele Picnic will return as a physical event in July 2024. We are also excited to announce that the 12th Annual International Ukulele Competition Finals will also be returning to Honolulu, with qualifying taking place online in advance.
While COVID-related restrictions have been lifted, things have never been better for children. Children are under more stress than we think. I not only hope that ukulele can heal children's hearts, I also believe that ukulele can give children hope. Participating in our ukulele competition gives them the opportunity to set their own goals, have dreams of achieving them, and work hard to achieve them.
It takes a lot of courage to observe and evaluate your own performance. However, if you take the courageous step forward, your life will be more positive later on. I hope you can live this period of your life to the fullest.
I also encourage experienced ukulele players to attend this event and try their skills in front of their ukulele friends from around the world. This will be a great opportunity to share the joy of playing the ukulele with many people. We hope to see you at the 12th annual event!

2024年のウクレレピクニック・イン・ハワイは7月にハワイに於いてリアル開催を予定しておりますが、第12回インターナショナル・ウクレレコンテスト予選をオンラインで一足早く開催することになりました。
コロナ禍の様々な制限が無くなりましたが、子どもたちを取り巻く環境は決して良くなっているとはいえません。子どもたちは大人が考える以上にストレスを抱えていると思います。ウクレレが子どもたちの心を癒してくれることを願うだけでなく、さらに、ウクレレが子どもたちにチャンスを与えることもできるのではないかと思っています。コンテストに参加することによって自分で目標を作る、それに向かって夢を持つ、夢に向かって努力する、それができるチャンスとなるのです。
人に自分の演奏を観てもらうこと、そして評価してもらうということはとても勇気が必要だと思います。しかし、勇気を持って一歩踏み出すことはその後の人生をポジティブにしてくれるはずです。この期間をぜひ充実した時間として過ごしてほしいと思います。
もちろんウクレレを弾きなれた大人の方々には世界のウクレレ仲間を前に自分の腕前を試してみることをお勧めします。あらためてウクレレの素晴らしさと楽しさをたくさんの人たちと分かち合うことができることでしょう。たくさんの方々の参加を期待しています。
